Talascend is currently seeking an Electrical Maintenance Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Thousand Oaks, California.

Overview

The Electrical Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment across commercial properties, ensuring safety and efficiency in all electrical maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain generators, VFDs, UPS systems, and building support equipment like AHUs, chillers, boilers, hot water heaters, pumps, and valves.
  • Assist in support and execution of site power outages and major switchgear maintenance events.
  • Analyze system operation, determine causes of problems, and take corrective actions.
  • Support installation and repair of single and three-phase motors (single & two-speed).
  • Run conduit and pull wiring to machinery, motors, and operating parts.
  • Willingness to change lightbulbs and ballasts as needed.
  • Communicate effectively and work collaboratively within teams.
  • Ensure compliance with departmental policies for hazardous materials handling.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, interpret single line drawings, and understand voltages.
  • Adhere to safety standards including LOTO and NFPA 70E, maintaining a clean and safe workspace.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
  • Use computers effectively, including knowledge of work order systems.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of related trade schooling or equivalent experience.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift items up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Ability to operate electric hand tools, carry tools, and operate equipment and vehicles.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, on ladders, and on roofs safely.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Electrical / Journeyman License.
