Industrial Electromechanical Technician
Talascend is currently seeking an Electromechanical Technician for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Dayton, Ohio.
Overview
The electromechanical technician (EMT) is a member of the plant maintenance team that supports factory operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform electrical and mechanical system preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair in a team environment
- Perform corrective, preventive maintenance & calibrations
- Work safely following all required safe practices including LOTO, PPE, risk predictions, and work permits
- Proactively utilize available resources for troubleshooting and repair (operators, maintenance team, electrical prints, manuals, OEM website resources)
- Properly and safely utilize tools and diagnostic equipment
- Identify parts required for repairs utilizing available resources (bills of material, parts lists, manuals, mechanical assembly drawings, etc.)
- Perform machine adjustments as required to support operations
- Work with electrical devices and systems such as switchgear, power distribution devices, MCC's, safety circuits, disconnects, fuses, PLC automation, motors, motor starters, relays, circuit breakers, VFD's, cameras, photo eyes, prox switches, temperature probes, level sensors, flow meters, control valves, and more
- Participate in and support operational excellence initiatives
- Utilize SAP plant maintenance CMMS system to document activities such as planned work, repair, and future work needed
- Perform additional duties as required
- Perform all work in a professional and workmanlike manner
Qualifications
- Associates degree, maintenance-related certificate, or equivalent experience in electrical maintenance or industrial automation field
- Three years of prior experience as an electrical mechanical technician -OR- a 2-year technical degree in electrical maintenance or industrial automation and 1 year of prior experience as an electrical mechanical technician
- Prior work experience must include diagnostic troubleshooting, repairing and replacing defective parts, adjusting machinery, and modifying units to meet proper operating specifications
- Ability to work overtime when required
- Ability to work with computers (navigating systems, recording information, locating information necessary to perform the job)
- Basic mathematical skills to perform machine and mechanical systems maintenance, calibrations, and repairs
- Working knowledge of pipefitting and rigging
- Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic principles
- Advanced understanding of industrial electricity including motor basics and controls
- Advanced knowledge of industrial automation and PLC-based controls (Allen Bradley/Siemens)
- Familiarity with LOTO / Arc Flash safety regulations
- Strong communication skills
- Proven problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job
- Experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment
