Talascend is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Overview

The maintenance technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing facilities and equipment, supporting operations, inspections, and maintenance processes related to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and food equipment. They assist other engineering and maintenance staff, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot and repair various systems, and ensure safety and compliance standards are met.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain lighting system bulbs and ballasts.
  • Perform minor electrical troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair motors and pumps.
  • Assist the operations team in building and equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Perform general interior maintenance such as HVAC/R equipment, auto/overhead doors, and food equipment.
  • Conduct rooftop, refrigeration, and food equipment preventative maintenance.
  • Perform plumbing repairs.
  • Participate in on-call and after-hours maintenance calls.
  • Comply with safety procedures, maintain good housekeeping, and recognize hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with state, county, or city ordinances, codes, and laws.
  • Adhere to policies for safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Engage in ongoing technical, safety, and operational training programs.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Document work performance and materials procurement as directed.
  • Support conveyors and sortation systems maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain equipment such as scanners, printers, scales, networks, drives, and UPS systems.
  • Identify, maintain, and troubleshoot PLCs and their components.
  • Assist mobile engineers as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to identify, maintain, and troubleshoot food service equipment.
  • Ability to identify, maintain, and troubleshoot control network components.
  • Experience with motor controls, including starters, VFDs, DC drives, and electrical components.
  • Hands-on electrical troubleshooting experience, including 480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, and 24 VDC systems.
  • Reasoning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Ability to utilize SCADA systems and KPIs.
  • Ability to train others with lesser skills.
  • Capability to access all areas of the facility.
  • Strong understanding of policies and procedures.
  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • Physical ability to lift at least 80 lbs., climb ladders up to 30 ft., and perform mechanical and electrical tasks.
  • Frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, and driving.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written.
  • Must pass background, drug/alcohol, and MVR screenings.
  • Self-motivated, capable of working independently or in teams.
  • Commitment to safety and good housekeeping practices.
  • Flexible with work hours, including weekends and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of relevant technical training programs.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in building repair, maintenance, plumbing, or electrical work.
  • Knowledge or experience with system controls or programming.
  • EPA Certification (Type 1, 2, or Universal).
  • Ability to troubleshoot UPS components.
  • Experience with advanced automation control systems.
  • UST Class B Certification.
