Financial Analyst
Talascend is currently seeking a Financial Analyst for a contract opportunity with our client in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey.
Overview
The main functions of a financial analyst are to gather and analyze financial information, conducting quantitative analyses of information affecting investment programs of public or private institutions. The role involves analyzing and communicating financial data to clients, supporting budget management, and financial reporting.
Responsibilities
- Direct the preparation of financial reports, such as income statements, balance sheets, and analyses of future earnings or expenses, that summarize and forecast the organization's financial position.
- Prepare special reports required by regulatory authorities.
- Direct the organization's budgets to meet its financial goals.
- Oversee the investment of funds, manage associated risks, and supervise cash management activities.
- Execute capital-raising strategies to support expansion.
- Oversee the firm's issuance of credit, establish credit-rating criteria, determine credit ceilings, and monitor collections of past-due accounts.
- Support budget management for departments, assist with annual budget submissions, coordinate project approvals, and monitor budget vs. actual performance.
- Prepare monthly reporting packages, pull data from ERP systems, update forecasts, and handle ad-hoc financial analysis projects.
- Perform vendor PO reconciliations and ensure timely invoicing and closure of POs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related financial discipline required.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables), PowerPoint, and data analysis.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and critical thinking.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and analyze business trends.
- Knowledge of economic and accounting principles, financial markets, and reporting of financial data.
- Experience with financial software and applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience preparing executive-level reports and presentations.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills in fast-paced environments.
