Shipping and Receiving Clerk
Talascend is currently seeking a Shipping and Receiving Clerk for a contract opportunity with our client in Vista, California.
Overview
This role involves performing manual and clerical shipping and receiving duties, including using computer systems for tracking, logging, verifying, and reporting. The position may involve working out of a central warehouse, handling incoming and outgoing materials, and operating equipment such as forklifts.
Responsibilities
- Perform manual and clerical shipping and receiving duties, including receiving incoming materials or preparing items for shipment
- Use computer systems to track, log, verify, and report shipments and received goods
- Verify quantity, weight, and conformance of materials to identifications
- Process freight bills, packing sheets, bills of lading, and other shipping documents
- Post weights, shipping charges, and route merchandise to destinations
- Operate forklift and prepare goods for final shipment when required
- Maintain shipping records and ensure proper documentation
- Collaborate with supervisors, peers, and internal or external customers on shipping and receiving activities
- Assist in training others and serve in a lead role if needed
Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent
- 3+ years of related experience
- Knowledge of shipping practices, procedures, and transportation routing
- Ability to handle non-routine tasks with some judgment and initiative
- Strong communication skills
