ServiceNow CMDB Specialist
Talascend is currently seeking a ServiceNow CMDB Specialist for a remote, contract opportunity with our client.
Overview
This role involves managing, maintaining, and optimizing the ServiceNow Configuration Management Database (CMDB) for a temporary 6-month assignment. The specialist will ensure data accuracy, support discovery processes, and collaborate with various IT stakeholders during this project period.
Responsibilities
- Implement, configure, and maintain the ServiceNow CMDB to ensure data accuracy and integrity, collaborating with infrastructure and tool owners
- Develop and enforce CMDB policies, standards, and procedures
- Perform regular audits and reconciliation of CMDB data to ensure compliance
- Set up and manage ServiceNow discovery schedules, probes, sensors, mid-servers, and credentials
- Create and manage CI classes and relationships within the CMDB, aligned with CSDM standards
- Apply network fundamentals knowledge to support discovery and CMDB processes
- Understand Windows/Linux administration, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, and related services
- Utilize scripting in PowerShell, JavaScript, or Python to automate processes and enhance CMDB functionality
- Work closely with IT teams, business units, and vendors to align CMDB support with organizational goals
- Develop dashboards and reports for monitoring CMDB data and health metrics
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience working with ServiceNow CMDB and ITSM processes
- Hands-on experience with ServiceNow Discovery, Service Mapping, and integrations
- Strong knowledge of ServiceNow platform capabilities and CMDB architecture
- Experience configuring and managing discovery patterns, mid-servers, and credentials
- Understanding of network protocols, IP addresses, firewalls, and ports
- Familiarity with Windows/Linux administration, DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory
- Basic scripting skills in PowerShell, JavaScript, or Python
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) required
- Proven analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ITIL frameworks and processes
- Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and hybrid environments
- Understanding of data governance and compliance standards
- Familiarity with ManageEngine OpManager, Microsoft SCCM, or other data sources
