Talascend is currently seeking a Field Joint Coating Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Mobile, Alabama.

Overview

This role involves performing coating application and surface preparation on pipelines, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform abrasive blasting using blast grit to prepare pipe surfaces to required cleanliness standards (e.g., SA 2.5 / NACE standards).
  • Apply fusion bonded epoxy (FBE) coatings using automated and manual spray systems.
  • Operate IMPP machines for polypropylene (PP) multi-layer coating systems.
  • Apply polyurethane coatings for corrosion protection and durability.
  • Monitor coating thickness and ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Conduct inspections including holiday detection and visual quality checks.
  • Maintain coating equipment and ensure proper operation of ovens, extruders, and spray systems.
  • Follow strict safety procedures and contribute to a safe working environment.
  • Travel worldwide for undetermined periods of time as needed.
  • Work in varied environments and climates as required.
  • Maintain good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to retain knowledge to acquire additional skills and maintain technical competencies.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience working on a pipeline, preferred
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and engineering procedures and processes, preferred
  • Ability to travel worldwide for undetermined periods of time
  • Ability to work in varied environments and climates
