Talascend is currently seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Centerville, Indiana.

Overview

This role involves maintaining and repairing the building's infrastructure, ensuring safety, functionality, and standards are met across a large, aging facility. The technician will handle a variety of general maintenance tasks, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work, with a focus on safety and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures.
  • Complete preventative maintenance routines with proper documentation.
  • Record readings and make adjustments to ensure proper operation of equipment.
  • Use appropriate tooling to troubleshoot simple AC/DC electrical circuits.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and repairs of HVAC systems.
  • Perform repair, maintenance, restoration, and replacement of various components of the building structure.
  • Maintain and repair locks, doors, furniture, and controllers.
  • Manage documentation for fire safety systems and other building systems.
  • Repair plumbing components such as toilets, sinks, water heaters, and piping.
  • Prepare, prime, and paint interior and exterior surfaces, along with general handyman tasks.
  • Handle interior maintenance tasks, including hanging pictures and repairing furniture.
  • Complete special tasks like locksmith work, tenant requests, and other maintenance duties.
  • Move office furniture, machinery, and equipment as needed.
  • Work with clients to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Maintain positive working relationships across all facilities operations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of construction experience.
  • Hands-on knowledge of principles, techniques, equipment, and supplies used in handyman and maintenance work.
  • Ability to learn and operate basic computer programs and systems.
  • Friendly personality and commitment to excellent customer service.
  • Strong work ethic and being highly dependable.
  • Ability to perform physical labor, including bending, lifting over 50 lbs, and using tools.
  • Basic understanding of a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Ability to work exposed to heat, sunlight, rain, cold, and at night if required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • HVAC skills and electrical skills.
  • Self-starter attitude and ability to work independently.
  • Experience in maintaining large commercial or institutional buildings.
