Talascend is currently seeking a Flight Systems Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Phoenix, Arizona.

Overview

This hybrid role involves working on complex avionics or embedded systems development, requiring significant experience in flight management or flight guidance systems. The position offers the opportunity to lead systems engineering projects in a dynamic environment, supporting design, integration, testing, and certification activities.

Responsibilities

  • Avionics or embedded systems development and requirement definition
  • Support the design and development of hardware, software, and network components
  • Provide successful execution of complex engineering projects
  • Implement and enforce security measures and compliance standards
  • Lead deployment and configuration of systems, ensuring proper installation, rigorous testing, and optimal performance
  • Provide technical leadership in identifying and resolving system issues to minimize downtime
  • Conduct testing and integration on lab test benches
  • System verification and validation activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems engineering and project leadership in flight management or flight guidance
  • Comprehensive knowledge in systems integration, implementation, and troubleshooting
  • Strong technical knowledge and expertise in advanced systems engineering technologies
  • Experience with project management tools and methodologies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced engineering degrees such as MS in aerospace engineering
  • Experience leading complex system integration projects
  • Knowledge of software configuration and change management practices with DOORS NG and Atlassian tools
  • Experience with agile development processes
  • Diverse and global teaming and collaboration experience
  • Effective and proactive communication skills
  • Business-oriented approach to software development
  • Strong understanding of DO-178B/C and ARP-4754 standards
  • Verification test plan experience
  • ARINC 429 and signal debug capability
  • Analytical skills and software development abilities
  • Strong problem-solving and attention to detail with a results-oriented mindset
  • Passion for innovation and continuous learning
