Principal Systems Engineer
Talascend is currently seeking a Principal Systems Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Phoenix, Arizona.
Overview
The Principal Systems Engineer will be responsible for leading technical activities related to engine control system development, integration, and requirements analysis to support propulsion gas turbine engines. The role involves mentoring, stakeholder communication, and technical oversight across multiple projects.
Responsibilities
- Disciplined requirements-based engineering of engine control systems, including analysis, decomposition, validation, verification, and change management
- Contributing to system requirement development, engine control system and component requirement development, and hardware design
- Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, leadership, project management, and customers
- Promoting reuse of requirements and features across programs to improve efficiency
- Mentoring developing engineers and providing field issue troubleshooting support
- Project coordination and supplier oversight
- Adhering to Agile development processes and program planning
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics
- Minimum of 10 years of professional engineering experience
- Experience working at the client is preferred
- Strong background in propulsion control system components and requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in engine propulsion, especially engine controls and requirements development
- Knowledge of gas turbine engines
- Familiarity with ARP4754A and DO-178C development processes
- Understanding of the product development lifecycle
- Experience leading diverse and global teams
- Self-motivation, initiative, and professional engineering judgment
- Ability to manage multiple complex tasks and adapt to project changes
