Talascend is currently seeking a Turbine Thermal Analysis Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Phoenix, Arizona.

Overview

  • The role involves designing and analyzing axial and radial turbine blades and vanes, with expertise in turbine cooling and durability, as well as performing heat transfer and secondary cooling flow analyses. The engineer will create thermal models using specialized software and communicate technical results effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze axial and radial turbine blades and vanes with or without internal cooling
  • Apply knowledge of turbine cooling and durability
  • Perform heat transfer and secondary cooling flow analyses
  • Create, execute, and calibrate 2D and 3D transient conduction-convection thermal models using NX thermal or equivalent software
  • Create and execute 3D conjugate heat transfer models using StarCCM+ or equivalent software
  • Utilize CAD software to generate and manipulate geometries for turbine components
  • Communicate technical results to internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • MS or PhD degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering is preferred
  • Proficient in using StarCCM+ or other thermal analysis tools
  • Proficient in working with CAD models, using NX or equivalent software
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in gas turbine engineering analysis
  • US Citizen or US Permanent Resident required due to export-controlled technologies
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
