CNC Machinist
Talascend is currently seeking a CNC Machinist for a contract opportunity with our client in Torrance, California.
Overview
This role involves operating mechanical equipment to assemble, repair, and fabricate metal parts, ensuring they meet specified dimensions and tolerances based on blueprints and design sketches. The position requires hands-on experience with CNC machinery and adherence to safety protocols due to physical risk factors.
Responsibilities
- Operate CNC lathes or CNC mills with proficiency in setting up and running production runs
- Set up and bore jaws to hold runout tolerances (for CNC lathes) or perform first article inspections (for CNC mills)
- Assemble parts into sub-units or complete units
- Use blueprints and design sketches to verify dimensions and tolerances
- Perform assemblies, repairs, and fabrications of metal parts
- Follow instructions and pre-established guidelines under supervision
- Handle lifting exceeding 30 lbs. and work in environments with potential physical risks
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-4 years of experience working with CNC machinery
- Knowledge of CNC lathe operations, including setup and boring jaws for tolerances
- Knowledge of CNC mill operations, including setup, running production, and first article inspection
- Ability to read blueprints and design sketches accurately
- Understanding of safety procedures related to machine operation and physical risks
