CNC Lathe Machinist
Talascend is currently seeking a CNC Lathe Machinist for a contract opportunity with our client in Torrance, California.
Overview
The role involves operating CNC lathes, setting up and boring jaws to hold runout tolerances, and assembling, repairing, and fabricating metal parts according to blueprints and design sketches. The position requires attention to detail in ensuring proper dimensions and tolerances of finished products.
Responsibilities
- Operate CNC lathes and other mechanical equipment
- Set up and bore jaws to specified runout tolerances
- Assemble parts into sub-units or complete units
- Interpret blueprints and design sketches to ensure accuracy
- Ensure finished products meet specified dimensions and tolerances
- Follow safety guidelines to mitigate exposure to physical risks
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 2-4 years of experience working with CNC lathes
- Experience setting up and boring jaws for runout tolerances
- Knowledge of blueprint reading and measurement tools
- Ability to work under direct supervision and follow established procedures
- Physical ability to lift weights exceeding 30 lbs and perform repetitive tasks
