Area Expeditor
Talascend is currently seeking an Area Expeditor for a contract opportunity with our client in Stockton CA or Reno NV.
Overview
Responsible for expediting completion and delivery of materials and equipment by visiting suppliers’ plants to ensure conformance with purchase order/contract agreements and project requirements.
Responsibilities
- Monitors all supplier operations involved in producing the materials specified in the purchase contract, including production planning, order entry, engineering, materials acquisition, manufacture, assembly, testing and shipment.
- Evaluates manufacturing progress at the suppliers’ plant through visual observation.
- Reviews sub-supplier procurement, expedites engineering and data submittals.
- Reports this information orally, telegraphically and with written expediting reports, as appropriate.
- Analyzes supplier schedules and progress reports to determine if they support the project required delivery dates.
- Identifies problem areas and initiates or recommends corrective action to supplier personnel.
- Coordinates expediting activities with the Project Expediter and project and support personnel.
- Works with Supplier Quality Representatives to ensure quality standards are met.
- Obtains and reports shipping and tracing information for follow-up by client.
- Reports supplier status information such as supplier labor contracts and negotiations, supplier management changes, product changes and lead times as necessary.
- Evaluates and reports on supplier performance as directed by clients.
- Responsible for adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
- Perform special projects and duties as assigned by the Area Expediter Coordinator.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
Requirements
- Competency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Ability to interpret basic purchase contracts
- Knowledge of basic manufacturing processes
- Basic computer skills
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently
- Must be able to travel on a regular basis
