Talascend is currently seeking an HVAC/R Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Overview

This role involves operating, inspecting, and maintaining HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and production equipment within assigned facilities to ensure optimal performance, safety, and energy efficiency. The technician will perform routine inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance, demonstrating technical expertise across multiple building systems.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, inspect, and maintain HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and production equipment and systems
  • Perform inspections and repairs on interior and exterior property areas, including walls, flooring, fixtures, roofing, and lighting
  • Execute ongoing preventive and corrective work orders for facility systems and equipment
  • Maintain, operate, and repair all HVAC/R systems and associated electrical, plumbing, and building systems
  • Study and familiarize with equipment and operational methods
  • Complete hazard assessments and ensure compliance with safety procedures and legal regulations
  • Maintain safety training and practice defensive driving
  • Possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license
  • Submit work-related expenses and update work order statuses promptly
  • Utilize CMMS software such as Corrigo for maintenance tracking
  • Participate in safety meetings and perform other assigned duties

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of four (4) years of technical experience in building engineering with a focus on HVAC/R, plumbing, electrical, and production equipment maintenance
  • HVAC Universal CFC recovery certification (or within 90 days of employment)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of computer applications like Word and Excel
  • Two years of trades school or documented apprenticeship in electrical, refrigeration, or HVAC systems


This is a standard shift position. Physical work may include lifting up to 80 lbs, working from heights, climbing ladders, and working in adverse conditions, including extreme hot or cold environments. Availability for call-in work and participation in on-call schedules are required.
