Talascend is currently seeking a HVAC/Refrigeration Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Roseville, Michigan.

Overview

Operates, inspects, and maintains all HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and production equipment and systems in assigned facilities to obtain the most efficient operating results and life expectancy. Ensures equipment is maintained in an energy-efficient, safe manner, with minimal downtime by anticipating necessary repairs and keeping records of past operating experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections and repairs to assigned property interior and exterior areas, including walls, flooring, fixtures, roofing, and lighting
  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment on all HVAC/R systems
  • Demonstrate technical expertise in HVAC and refrigeration, and be multi-skilled in electrical, piping/plumbing, material handling equipment, and other systems
  • Perform ongoing preventive maintenance and respond to repair work orders on mechanical, electrical, and other systems
  • Maintain, operate, and repair HVAC/R systems, electrical distribution, plumbing, and related building systems
  • Conduct facility inspections and report on conditions impacting operations
  • Complete hazard assessments and comply with safety procedures and regulations
  • Recognize hazards and propose methods to eliminate them
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant ordinances, codes, and laws
  • Practice defensive driving at all times and possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Submit P-card receipts daily and update work order status in real time
  • Utilize CMMS systems such as Corrigo for work documentation
  • Perform vehicle safety inspections and escalate issues as needed
  • Attend work and safety meetings and perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of four (4) years of technical experience in building engineering, with a focus on HVAC/R, plumbing, electrical, and production equipment maintenance
  • Knowledge of system design and applications
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • HVAC technician must have a Universal CFC recovery certification (or within 90 days of employment)
  • Licenses as required by jurisdiction

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel
  • Two years of trades school or documented apprenticeship in electrical systems, refrigeration, and HVAC

Shift

This position requires availability for call-in work and being added to an on-call schedule as required by the employer. On-call technicians must make a reasonable effort to answer calls from the call center in accordance with company and customer directives. Physical work may involve lifting up to 80 lbs, working from heights, climbing ladders up to 30 feet, and working in adverse conditions including extreme cold and heat. Candidates must be able to work in these conditions and perform long drives as needed.
