Industrial Engineer
Talascend is currently seeking an Industrial Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Lansing, Michigan.
Overview
As an industrial engineer, you will support operations validation and productivity improvements by analyzing operational methods, recording and analyzing information, and recommending changes to layouts and labor or material control.
Responsibilities
- Assist in establishing operational methods and work standards using various measurement techniques.
- Provide information for various management systems.
- Record and analyze information on specific problems related to personnel, material, machines, and facilities.
- Work with various engineering disciplines, floor and shop personnel, and outside suppliers.
- Confirm or recommend changes to layouts, labor control, and/or material control.
- Support the effective use of personnel, material, and equipment in support of SPQRC initiatives.
- Support the plant in achieving Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, and Cost goals.
- Be willing to work any assigned shift, work daily, and support weekend and holiday overtime as required.
- Support and implement QS9000/ISO14001/(GMS) Global Manufacturing System compliance processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
- 3-5 years experience in line balancing activities.
- 3-5 years experience coordinating system simulations and design process buff.
- 6 years relevant auto industry experience required.
- Entry level (<1 year) past experience required.
- Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (intermediate level).
- Knowledge with Lotus Notes or other email communication tool (intermediate level).
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively cross-functionally and cross-culturally.
- Good written and oral communication skills for meetings and presentations.
- Ability to work well with others and exhibit teamwork skills.
- Ability to multitask and handle diverse assignments concurrently.
- Strong knowledge of work measurement and work standards.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Demonstrated ability with ergonomic requirements of work station design.
- Ability to conduct line balancing activities.
- Ability to coordinate system simulations and design process buff.
- Strong background in Manufacturing, Assembly Process, and Ergonomics.
- Suppliers agree that candidates successfully complete required drug testing and background checks prior to supplier confirmation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering.
- 2 years of general assembly and supply chain experience.
- Auto Cad and APS required.
Shift
Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00am to 4:30pm. No weekend work is required.
