Area Expediting Specialist
Talascend is currently seeking an Area Expediting Specialist for a contract opportunity with our client in Warren, Michigan.
Overview
The Area Expediting Specialist supports expediting completion and delivery of materials and equipment by visiting suppliers and plants to ensure conformance with purchase order and project requirements. This role evaluates supplier progress across engineering, materials acquisition, manufacturing, testing, and shipping to help maintain project schedules.
Responsibilities
- Monitor supplier operations involved in producing materials and equipment specified in the purchase order, including production planning, order entry, engineering, materials acquisition, manufacture, assembly, testing, and shipment.
- Evaluate manufacturing progress at suppliers’ plants through visual observations and review sub-orders while expediting engineering and data submittals.
- Report supplier progress by e-mail with an electronically transmitted expediting report.
- Analyze supplier schedules and progress reports to determine whether delivery dates will support project requirements, identify problem areas, and initiate or recommend corrective action.
- Coordinate expediting activities with project expediting personnel and interface with area supplier quality personnel to support one another’s efforts.
- Obtain and report shipping information.
- Report supplier status information, such as supplier labor contracts and negotiations, supplier management changes, product changes, and lead times to enable project updates.
- Document shop visits to the project with written reports of supplier progress.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience.
- Proficiency in shop expediting at supplier facilities.
- Knowledge of scheduling, purchasing, supplier quality, and traffic functions.
- Knowledge of general shop practices, engineering and drawing control, inventory control, shop scheduling, and supplier procurement activities.
- Ability to communicate well with suppliers, projects, and supervisors.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional experience preferred.
Shift
Monday through Friday core hours are 9am to 5pm (flexible).
