System Test Engineer
Talascend is currently seeking a System Test Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Tewksbury, Massachusetts.
Overview
This role involves supporting testing and validation of airport checkpoint screening systems in a system test lab environment. The technician will operate test equipment, set up test scenarios, handle test articles, and perform hands-on system testing to ensure equipment meets functional and operational requirements.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor test equipment in a controlled lab setting
- Set up test scenarios and handle test articles, such as bags weighing around 20 pounds
- Perform hands-on system testing and troubleshooting
- Document test results and follow test procedures
- Work with both Linux and Windows operating systems during testing
- Support the setup and execution of system tests, including movement of test articles
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Experience in system testing, verification, validation, or related engineering test activities
- Experience testing integrated hardware/software or electromechanical systems
- Working knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems
- Ability to troubleshoot OS-level issues, check system status, and collect logs
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to lift and move test articles, typically around 20 pounds
- Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience testing airport checkpoint, security screening, or transportation security systems
- Experience with Linux command line, Windows system tools, and system logs
- Experience with defect tracking tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira
- Familiarity with networking, IP configuration, and device communication troubleshooting
- Experience supporting formal test events and acceptance testing
- Basic understanding of software, hardware, sensors, and electromechanical systems
