General Laborer-Assistant

Talascend is currently seeking a General Laborer/Building Assistant for a contract opportunity with our client in Louisville, Kentucky.

Overview

The Maintenance Technician performs preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across assigned facilities. This role involves inspection, repairs, and general maintenance to ensure optimal facility operations and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment/systems
• Assist senior mechanics in maintenance and repair efforts while independently performing defined tasks
• Inspect and repair property interior and exterior areas, including walls, flooring, fixtures, roofing, and lighting
• Clean HVAC coils, change filters and belts, and maintain plumbing components such as toilets, urinals, sinks, and water heaters
• Maintain and repair locks, doors, furniture, and other building components
• Document fire extinguishers and other building systems to ensure compliance
• Prepare, prime, and paint building surfaces and perform general handyman tasks
• Complete special tasks such as locksmith work, tenant requests, and general maintenance
• Prioritize work orders and update their status in the CMMS system, escalating issues as needed

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 1 year of related experience and/or training in carpentry, electrical, and plumbing
• Experience with hand tools and power tools
• Proficiency in basic computer applications such as MS Office, Outlook, and CMMS (Maximo)
• Physical ability to lift up to 80 lbs., climb ladders up to 30 ft., and work in adverse conditions including extreme temperatures

Preferred Qualifications

• EPA Universal License
• Building Automation System (BAS) experience
• Preventative maintenance experience on HVAC equipment
