Talascend is currently seeking a CNC Machinist for a contract opportunity with our client in Farmington, Michigan.

Overview

The CNC Machinist I supports the creation of low volume and custom parts from a variety of materials. The role involves working through multiple project phases, from concept receipt to finished product delivery, utilizing CNC and manual machining techniques along with inspection processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop wireframe and solid models, modify imported models, and edit post-processors using Tebis, WorkNC, or Mastercam software.
  • Operate CNC machines, lathes, and mills, performing multiple passes to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Prepare, inspect, finish, and join parts using manual equipment and hand tools.
  • Load materials into CNC machines, apply fixturing, and select tooling.
  • Machine fixtures and jigs to support manufacturing processes.
  • Support multi-phase CNC machining including troubleshooting, implementing design changes, and resolving issues.
  • Maintain machinery, tools, and equipment in a clean and organized manner.
  • Submit requests for restocking materials or supplies.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience with CNC machining and manual machining.
  • Experience with 3-axis milling operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Advanced Manufacturing or related field.
  • 3 years of experience with industry-standard software applications, such as Tebis, Mastercam, WorkNC, CATIA, or AutoCAD.
  • Experience with polymer or metal model making.
  • Experience with 5-axis milling operations.
