Inventory Coordinator
Talascend is currently seeking an Inventory Coordinator for a contract opportunity with our client in Plymouth, Michigan.
Overview
This role supports inventory and logistics activities for a powertrain group, focusing on inventory control, movements, and exception handling within a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain detailed inventory control through cycle counts and annual/monthly inventory counts
- Check-in, visually inspect, and update bill of material components upon receipt, coordinating inspection processes
- Track, store, and manage test cell and project components inventory in the WASP system, including setting up new parts and researching discrepancies
- Manage project component usage, serialization, and ensure system accuracy to reflect real-time data
- Support prototype builds by picking kits of parts and assisting with sub-assembly activities
- Receive deliveries and freight shipments, maintaining accurate records in accordance with established processes
- Coordinate inbound goods delivery and pickup, organizing outbound shipping and ensuring prompt responses to shipping requests
- Maintain a clean and organized inventory storage area and monitor inventory levels
- Coordinate with purchasing to ensure materials are received accurately and expedite shortages as needed
- Develop and maintain inventory and logistics processes, communicating concerns and metrics with management
- Promote continuous improvement in all aspects of the job
- Contribute to departmental objectives aligned with technical, financial, and quality goals
- Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and company policies and standards
Qualifications
- Associates degree preferred with 5+ years' experience, preferably in material management or related field
- General automotive and automotive component knowledge
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to multitask
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and experience with logistics/inventory software preferred
- Fluent in English, capable of writing reports and effective communication with peers and management
- Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts and solve technical problems
- Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and work independently
- Willing to learn and operate a forklift, with safety certification preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with specific logistics and inventory software
Shift
This position typically operates during standard working hours; additional hours or overtime may be required as needed, and travel is unlikely.
