Talascend is currently seeking a Mission Critical Facilities Operator for a contract opportunity with our client in Jackson, Mississippi.

Overview

This role involves operating and maintaining mechanical, electrical, and building infrastructure systems in a mission critical data center to ensure 100% uptime. The position requires performing repairs, maintenance, and overseeing vendor services in a highly technical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain all aspects of mechanical, electrical, and infrastructure equipment in a data center environment
  • Monitor and operate equipment to ensure 100% uptime
  • Perform installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems
  • Conduct routine assessments and testing of building systems and equipment
  • Oversee vendors and contractors performing preventive maintenance and repairs
  • Understand and adhere to critical environment management policies and protocols
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to electrical, mechanical, fire safety, and environmental systems
  • Participate in on-call rotations for 24/7 support
  • Maintain documentation and records of maintenance and repairs

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent, technical training or degree
  • 4-5 years of related experience in electrical and mechanical fields
  • Understanding of design and construction documents for critical systems
  • Proficient in basic computer applications such as MS Office and email
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and perform repairs on electrical (e.g., UPS, generators, switchgear), mechanical (e.g., chillers, boilers, pumps), fire safety, environmental controls, and digital systems
  • Experience working with energized equipment (hot work) is a plus
  • Ability to work under duress and maintain professionalism during emergencies
  • Physical ability to lift up to 80 lbs, work at heights, climb ladders up to 30 feet, and work in conditions of extreme cold or hot temperatures
  • Valid state driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Must possess and maintain EPA Universal certification or obtain within 90 days

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with data center infrastructure management platforms
  • Knowledge of data hall power distribution and cooling fundamentals
  • Experience working with energized equipment in commercial environments
  • Background in HVAC, chillers, boilers, and related systems
