Material Control Technician
Talascend is currently seeking a Material Control Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Livonia, Michigan.
Overview
The Material Control Technician II is responsible for picking automotive parts, preparing them for deployment to the shop floor, and processing material moves within an ERP system. This role requires attention to detail, automotive and material control expertise, and the ability to work efficiently in a warehouse environment.
Responsibilities
- Pick and prepare automotive parts for production
- Process material movements in an ERP system
- Manage inventory transactions accurately
- Operate a Hi-Lo forklift and pass internal training
- Support freight movement in and out of trucks and warehouse
- Keep work areas clean and organized
- Assist in cycle counts and inventory management
- Record and track inventory data accurately
- Distribute parts within warehouse or production areas
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of material control experience in an automotive manufacturing environment
- Experience managing inventory using a computer and making transactions
- Ability to drive a Hi-Lo and pass internal training
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably Peoplesoft
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, data entry, and computer skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Accurate cycle count and inventory experience
- Experience receiving and distributing parts in a warehouse or production setting
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license
- Experience using Peoplesoft or similar ERP systems
- Effective customer service and attendance
- Ability to obtain or qualify for an industrial truck license
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
