Talascend is currently seeking a Senior HVAC Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Holdrege, Nebraska.

Overview

This role involves maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing complex heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems in commercial facilities. The senior technician provides technical leadership, ensures system efficiency, and supports team development to maintain optimal building performance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, air handlers, rooftop units, cooling towers, pumps, and building automation systems
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and testing to ensure equipment operates at peak efficiency and meets all safety and regulatory standards
  • Diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues using specialized tools, technical documentation, and building management system interfaces
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior technicians, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning across the team
  • Respond promptly to emergency service calls and implement effective solutions that minimize downtime and maintain business continuity
  • Document all service activities, maintain accurate maintenance records, and communicate status updates to facility managers and clients
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and contractors on system upgrades, retrofits, and capital improvement projects
  • Monitor energy consumption patterns and recommend efficiency improvements that optimize building performance and reduce operational costs
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and safety protocols while maintaining a safe work environment for yourself and others

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in commercial HVAC maintenance and repair
  • Valid EPA Universal Certification for refrigerant handling (required)
  • Demonstrated expertise in diagnosing and repairing commercial HVAC equipment including chillers, boilers, air handlers, and building automation systems
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, control circuits, and ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Proven track record of performing preventive maintenance and responding effectively to emergency service situations
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and ability to travel between multiple client sites as needed
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds, work at heights, in confined spaces, and in various weather conditions
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with clients, contractors, and team members
