Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Talascend is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Phoenix, Arizona.
Overview
This role involves collaborating with aerospace engineering teams to create solutions that meet customer needs, participating in product development and support, and validating engineering drawings according to industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate across engineering teams to create aerospace solutions and systems.
- Participate in product development and production support phases.
- Coach and mentor less experienced engineers.
- Validate aerospace engineering drawings for compliance with standards.
- Review engineering drawings and models for correct usage of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Ensure proper application of model-based practices and standards.
- Model validation and design assessment for manufacturing and cost efficiency.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in mechanical design.
- Deep understanding of engineering drawings using ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Experience and understanding of gas turbine engine components is valued.
- Proven application of ASME drawing standards including ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
- Experience in detailed design phase and legacy drawings and specifications.
- Talent to act as a mentor and coach.
- Ability to convey complex messages clearly and work with little supervision.
- Ability to make timely decisions, balancing analysis and decisiveness.
- Experience leading small teams and coordinating technical activities.
