Sheet Metal Worker
Talascend is currently seeking a Sheet Metal Worker for a contract opportunity with our client in Torrance, California.
Overview
This role involves setting up and operating various machines to shape and alter sheet metal according to specifications, following blueprints and technical drawings. The position requires hands-on skill with tools and equipment, ensuring precise fabrication of metal components.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate machines such as drill presses, punch presses, shears, bending rolls, brakes, grinders, and numerical control equipment.
- Follow blueprints, rough sketches, or engineer drawings to shape metal accurately.
- Use hand and power tools to shape, smooth, and blend seams in metal parts.
- Set up and operate soldering and welding equipment as needed.
- Perform tasks that may require lifting exceeding 30 lbs and repetitive handling of weights.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2-4 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication or related fields.
- Knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures within metalworking.
- Ability to follow instructions and pre-established guidelines.
- Reliable and able to work under supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with soldering and welding equipment.
