Talascend is currently seeking a Laboratory Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Piscataway, New Jersey.

Overview

This role involves conducting method development, analyzing samples, and maintaining laboratory instrumentation, primarily focusing on EUDRAGIT polymers and solid dosage forms. The technician will ensure laboratory safety and compliance with industrial hygiene standards, handling hazardous waste, and managing controlled substances.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct method development for customer and internal projects
  • Analyze samples for customer projects and internal research projects
  • Write technical reports for analytical methods and maintain organized records
  • Create presentations and communicate work findings effectively
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve for analytical projects
  • Operate lab equipment including HPLC, dissolution testers, DSC, optical microscopy, SEM, and IR Spectrophotometers
  • Keep the analytical lab and equipment clean and well-maintained
  • Order supplies and contact vendors to ensure smooth lab operations
  • Coordinate industrial hygiene programs to ensure safety compliance
  • Promote safety awareness through communication tools and safety meetings
  • Develop and maintain procedures for safety and industrial hygiene
  • Handle and record controlled substances (CII-CIV), including DEA licensing and destruction procedures
  • Maintain records of APIs, excipients, and reference standards inventory
  • Communicate with DEA officials and perform security checks for controlled substances
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant technical degree preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with HPLC, dissolution testing, and other analytical instruments
  • Knowledge of hazardous waste management and industrial hygiene practices
  • Experience handling controlled substances and familiarity with DEA procedures
