Talascend is currently seeking an Engineering Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Greenville, South Carolina.
Overview
This role involves supporting utility distribution design work, performing field inspections, engineering design, and supporting construction activities in the power industry. The technician will interact with various stakeholders and ensure standards are met through field and office work.
Responsibilities
- Review work provided by the client and assess scope requirements
- Support engineering during construction, including post-construction reviews
- Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles
- Travel locally and regionally, perform site inspections, and collect field data
- Perform engineering design work based on collected data and standards
- Coordinate with permit agencies, right-of-way specialists, system owners, and other stakeholders
- Ensure quality and timeliness of design deliverables for QAQC
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher in engineering technology or related field preferred
- Willingness to perform both field and office work
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work outdoors and in outdoor environments
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Valid US driver's license and ability to travel locally and regionally
- Power/utilities industry experience and field data collection experience are preferred
- Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with field data collection
- Proficiency in engineering design and calculations
