Talascend is currently seeking a Gas Turbine Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Phoenix, Arizona.
Overview
This role involves supporting the design, analysis, and validation of gas turbine engine components, primarily focusing on the cold section, such as fans and compressors. The engineer will evaluate opportunities for design tailoring and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Investigate and identify opportunities for tailoring engine component design requirements.
- Evaluate "cold-section" engine components such as fan, axial compressor, and centrifugal compressor.
- Estimate savings in design criteria, costs, manpower, and schedule.
- Conduct literature searches and propose alignment of component design methods to regulatory standards.
- Perform impact analysis of tailored design criteria and demonstrate testing and validation methods.
- Update design criteria and models based on findings.
- Summarize literature and regulatory review findings.
- Identify potential efforts and perform preliminary impact analysis.
- Lead analysis activities supporting regulatory and customer requirements for engine cold section components.
Qualifications
- 10+ years' experience with overall engine function, with 5+ years in engine cold section (fan and compressor).
- 5+ years demonstrating knowledge of design criteria, practices, and guidelines for engine cold section, including mechanical and structural requirements.
- 5+ years' experience with regulatory agency criteria and guidelines, including military and FAA standards related to engine cold section.
- 3+ years' experience leading fan and compressor teams and collaborating across functional groups.
- 5+ years' experience performing structural and mechanical analyses, as well as trade-off studies.
- 3+ years' experience with testing, validation, and verification of fans and compressors.
- 3+ years' customer-facing support experience, including communication and presentation skills.
