Talascend is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in New York, New York.

Overview

The Maintenance Technician supports building operations by performing daily maintenance and repairs to ensure systems and equipment operate safely, reliably, and efficiently. The role involves working under the direction of site leadership to complete preventative maintenance, respond to service requests, and troubleshoot equipment issues across assigned facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and corrective maintenance and repairs on building equipment and systems.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical/electrical issues and complete repairs to restore equipment operation.
  • Complete scheduled preventative maintenance activities and document work performed.
  • Respond to urgent maintenance requests and prioritize work to support business operations.
  • Coordinate with vendors/contractors when specialized service is required and support access/escort needs.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and follow site safety procedures, including lockout/tagout where applicable.
  • Maintain tools, parts, and materials; help identify needed supplies for efficient job completion.

Qualifications

  • Experience performing maintenance and repairs in commercial buildings or similar facilities environment.
  • Working knowledge of building equipment/systems (examples: HVAC components, pumps, motors, controls, general building systems).
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues, follow procedures, and complete work with minimal rework.
  • Ability to work on-call or off-hours as required by site needs.
  • Must be able to safely perform physical tasks associated with maintenance work (standing, climbing ladders, lifting, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Trade school, apprenticeship, or relevant certifications.
  • 3-4 years of related work experience.
  • Experience supporting a corporate office account with high service expectations.
  • Familiarity with work order / maintenance tracking systems.

The work shift is Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm or 10 am to 7 pm, with potential overtime as needed.
