Talascend is currently seeking an Utility Field Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Overview
The Engineering Technologist will support electrical utility projects through field inspections, engineering design work, and calculations. The role involves coordinating with various stakeholders and providing engineering support during construction and post-construction phases to ensure standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Review work provided by the client and assess scope requirements
- Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews
- Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design
- Travel to sites as needed, perform inspections, and return to the office for engineering design work
- Collect field data to assist in electrical design work packages
- Coordinate with permit agencies, right-of-way specialists, system owners, field leaders, forestry leaders, and third-party owners for joint-owned poles
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; associate’s degree or higher in engineering technology or related field is preferred
- Willingness to perform both field and office work
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Ability to work in outdoor environments, as some field work could be required
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work with limited supervision
- Valid US driver’s license for local and regional travel
- Power/utilities experience and previous field data collection experience are preferred
