Talascend is currently seeking a HVAC Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Overview
This role involves operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing HVAC and facility equipment across multiple locations, with an emphasis on commercial HVAC systems and handyman skills including light plumbing and electrical work.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, monitoring, and repairs to mechanical, plumbing, structural, fire, life safety, and control systems for various facilities.
- Travel between multiple facilities to ensure proper functioning of systems.
- Manage facility services, preventative maintenance, purchasing, inventory control, and contracted maintenance.
- Maintain HVAC systems and related equipment through cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and replacing parts.
- Record readings and make adjustments to ensure optimal equipment operation.
- Follow safety procedures for hazardous materials, maintain a clean and safe workplace.
- Conduct periodic checks of tools and instruments.
- Monitor the quality and cost of work performed by outside contractors.
- Ensure safety and maintain good housekeeping in work areas.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 5-7 years of experience in HVAC or building systems maintenance and repair.
- Experience maintaining and repairing commercial building systems.
- Ability to analyze mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems and troubleshoot issues.
- EPA 608 Type II Certification.
- Working knowledge of Word and Excel.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- EPA 608 Universal Certification.
- Two years of trades schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration, and HVAC.
