Building Systems Operator

Talascend is currently seeking a Building Systems Operator for a contract opportunity with our client in Malvern, Pennsylvania.

Overview

The Building Systems Operator plays a vital role in monitoring and managing building systems to ensure operational continuity and safety. The position requires technical aptitude, attention to detail, and effective response to emergency situations in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage critical alarms related to building mechanical infrastructure, fire, and life safety systems through Building Automation Systems (BAS).
• Conduct proactive virtual tours of facility systems to verify proper operation and maintain knowledge of BAS functionality.
• Track, escalate, and communicate incidents with potential business disruption through established protocols and communication channels.
• Provide technical support to field operations by troubleshooting equipment using BAS data, evaluating trend reports, and performing system overrides when necessary.
• Support and coordinate building shutdown activities via BAS, ensuring timely notifications to stakeholders.
• Validate proper approvals for vendor work prior to commencement.
• Receive, generate, and process work orders, dispatch technicians, and follow up as required.
• Prepare, maintain, and issue accurate shift reports that capture critical operational information.
• Foster a positive, collaborative team culture through open communication and support colleagues during high-pressure situations.
• Deliver exceptional customer service in all interactions, maintaining stakeholder satisfaction and trust.
• Perform other tasks as assigned to support operational objectives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Degree or coursework in a technology-related field from an accredited institution (preferred).
• Strong proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Understanding of technology, software applications, and computer systems.
• Ability to analyze system operations, identify malfunctions, and take corrective action.
• Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) (preferred).
• HVAC experience (preferred).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to produce accurate reports under client-defined deadlines.
• Self-starter capable of thriving in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Strong customer service orientation and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and effective during stressful or emergency situations.

Preferred Qualifications

• HVAC experience.
• Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS).
