Talascend is currently seeking an Associate Electrical Distribution Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Overview
The role involves supporting electrical distribution projects by developing design and construction work packages for overhead and underground systems, performing engineering calculations, and supporting clients in compliance and safety standards. Candidates will gain experience with various design tools and coordinate field and office work in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop design and construction work packages for electrical distribution systems operating from 4kV through 138kV
- Perform engineering calculations such as structural analysis, conductor sags and tensions, and voltage drop
- Develop permitting documents for different authorities having jurisdiction
- Support the field activities including site inspections and post-construction reviews
- Conduct root cause analysis of outages and propose mitigation strategies
- Assist in project management and client communication
Qualifications
- Completed Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) from an ABET-accredited institution
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Ability to utilize a personal vehicle for travel
- Willingness to perform both field and office work, including outdoor environments
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with distribution design tools such as BOUD, Pole Foreman, SOCKET, Spida-Calc, or similar
- Experience using CAD tools, MicroStation, and/or GIS
- Knowledge of NESC and design standards
- Professional Engineer License (PE), Engineer in Training Certificate (EIT), or Project Management Professional (PMP)
