Talascend is currently seeking a Utilities Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Haysville, Kansas.
Overview
This role involves maintaining and supporting utility operations within a plant setting, ensuring safety, efficiency, and proper inventory management of catalysts and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Follow plant safety protocols and identify unsafe conditions to supervision.
- Use hand tools on piping and equipment safely.
- Wear appropriate chemical PPE, including rain suits, gloves, hard hats, steel-toed boots, goggles, and face shields.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the catalyst tube wash area.
- Operate procedures to ensure safe and correct operation of the catalyst tube wash area.
- Maintain catalyst tube inventory, wash catalyst tubes for reuse, and prepare filter tubes for shipment for offsite cleaning.
- Unload and stock new or cleaned tubes delivered to the site.
- Support senior utilities technicians with assigned tasks as necessary.
- Communicate effectively with plant personnel, supervisors, and colleagues, including checking and responding to emails daily.
- Work a 7 am to 3:30 pm shift, Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (if specified).
- Ability to work a 7 am - 3:30 pm shift, Monday - Friday.
- Mechanical aptitude and basic computer skills are a plus.
- Ability to follow general plant safety protocols.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
