Talascend is currently seeking a HVAC Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Andover, Massachusetts.

2nd Shift - Sunday-Thursday 3:30PM-11:00PM

Overview

Join a growing team of facilities management professionals supporting the 24/7/365 operations of a leading life sciences organization’s campus in Andover, MA. You will be responsible for operational maintenance of HVAC systems, ensuring safety, efficiency, and uptime through reliability-based strategies while collaborating with large, sophisticated teams.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain continuous operation of HVAC-related building systems, including mechanical controls, BAS, electrical components, and temperature control systems.
  • Execute preventive, corrective, and reliability maintenance procedures with teammates and vendor partners.
  • Perform building rounds, maintain detailed logs and data sheets to ensure compliance and safety standards are met.
  • Provide detailed comments in work order database for documentation and referencing.
  • Support customer interface, planning, scheduling, and document management.
  • Identify hazards, implement remediation, and complete safety training programs.
  • Collaborate with vendor partners, ensuring proper work authorization and incident response protocols.
  • Log and respond to complaints, status updates, and follow-up calls in CMMS database.
  • Immediately address alarms to repair or troubleshoot issues.
  • Monitor and analyze operations, record readings, and troubleshoot HVAC equipment such as chillers, boilers, VAV systems, piping, and controls.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on base building and critical systems, including assembling tools and maintaining supplies.
  • Install, repair, or rebuild HVAC units and associated controls, including package units, mini splits, water heaters, motors, pumps, and heat exchangers.
  • Assist other technicians with major repairs and maintenance of electrical controls and systems.
  • Comply with safety standards for handling hazardous materials.
  • Ensure all data related to R&M work (materials, labor) is accurately captured on work orders.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of facility-related HVAC and refrigeration work experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Active Massachusetts driver’s license
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in facility-related systems
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and CMMS systems
  • Strong understanding of refrigeration system operations, including walk-in coolers and ice machines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven customer service skills, professionalism, and ability to collaborate
  • Ability to demonstrate core values of teamwork, ethics, and excellence
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and safe work practices
  • Ability to operate power and hand tools, work at heights, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and on rooftops

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Massachusetts HVAC Contractor License (more preferred than Technician license)
  • Active Massachusetts HVAC Technician License
  • Associate’s Degree in HVAC or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with reliability-centered maintenance in critical facilities
  • Advanced HVAC or refrigeration certifications
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
  • Experience managing contracted maintenance staff and vendor relationships
