Talascend is currently seeking an HVAC Technician for a contract to opportunity with our client in Andover, Massachusetts.

Shift: 3rd Shift, Tuesday-Saturday
Hours: 10PM – 6:30AM (30min un-paid lunch)

Overview

Join a growing team of facilities management professionals supporting the 24/7 operations of a leading life sciences organization’s campus. The role involves operational maintenance of HVAC systems, ensuring safety, efficiency, and reliable performance to maximize asset uptime and support continuous facility operations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain continuous operation of all HVAC-related building systems, including controls, BAS, electrical, and temperature control systems.
  • Execute preventive, corrective, and reliability maintenance procedures with teammates and vendor partners.
  • Conduct building rounds, maintain detailed logs and data sheets, and ensure regulatory compliance and safety requirements are met.
  • Enter detailed comments into work order database for documentation and referencing.
  • Provide customer interface and support, assisting with planning, scheduling, and document management.
  • Identify hazards, implement remediation measures, and complete safety training programs.
  • Collaborate with vendor partners to follow work authorization procedures and incident response protocols.
  • Accept and log complaints, status updates, and follow-up calls in CMMS database.
  • Take immediate action on alarms to repair or correct issues.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot operations, record readings, and adjust mechanical systems such as refrigeration, heat pumps, HVAC units, chillers, boilers, and low-voltage electrical equipment.
  • Check CMMS system for new trouble calls and work assignments.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on base building and critical system equipment, including installation, repair, and rebuilding of HVAC units and associated controls.
  • Assist other technicians with major repairs and maintenance, including electrical controls, switches, and motor controls.
  • Comply with departmental safety policies for hazardous materials.
  • Ensure all R&M data (material costs, labor costs, etc.) is captured on work orders.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of facility-related HVAC and refrigeration work experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Active Massachusetts driver’s license
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in facility systems
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and CMMS systems
  • Understanding of refrigeration systems including walk-ins, ice machines, etc.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven customer service, professionalism, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to demonstrate core values of teamwork, ethics, and excellence
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and safety execution
  • Ability to operate power and hand tools, work on ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, rooftops, and on building structures
  • On-call availability as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Massachusetts HVAC contractor license (preferred)
  • Massachusetts HVAC technician license
  • Associate’s degree in HVAC or equivalent experience
  • Experience with reliability-centered maintenance in critical environments
  • Advanced HVAC and Refrigeration certifications
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local compliance requirements
  • Experience managing contracted maintenance staff and vendors
