Boiler Operator
Talascend is currently seeking a Boiler Operator for a contract opportunity with our client in Portage, Michigan.
Overview
As a boiler operator, you will monitor and operate key facility systems and equipment, ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the boiler room to support facility management and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and operate boiler and utility system equipment
- Make necessary adjustments to main plant equipment
- Troubleshoot equipment and respond to building automation or alarm systems
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance
- Conduct chemical analysis to optimize system performance
- Complete corrective maintenance as needed
- Answer boiler room and facilities department phones and dispatch personnel
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, calls, and operational logs
- Research and order supplies as required
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in assigned areas
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 3–5 years of related facilities or boiler room experience
- Class 4 NIULPE power engineer’s license
- Working knowledge of boiler systems and operations
- Ability to operate and understand diagnostic and computer equipment
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, and occasionally assisting with heavier tasks
- Availability for variable shifts under close supervision
