Talascend is currently seeking a Mechanical Assembly Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Tempe, Arizona.

Overview

As an assembly mechanic, you will play a key role in assembling, maintaining, and testing mechanical equipment, machinery, and components.

Responsibilities

  • Construct and assemble mechanical components in accordance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance and conduct tests to verify functionality and safety.
  • Identify parts requiring replacement due to wear, damage, or malfunction.
  • Place orders for replacement parts as needed to maintain operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; apprenticeship or formal training may be required.
  • 0-2 years of experience in mechanical assembly or a related field.
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures used in mechanical assembly.
  • Ability to work under direct supervision and follow established guidelines.

Special Considerations

  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs without significant repetition.
  • Moderate exposure to machinery, chemicals, biological agents, and physical risks.
  • May operate powered industrial trucks (classified as industrial or heavy equipment depending on use).

Reporting Structure

Reports directly to a supervisor or manager.

Timekeeping

Worker will submit weekly time using TWB. The worker must be registered in Fieldglass; the worker will not require direct system access.

Prescreen Questions

  • Mechanical Assembly Experience: Can you describe your experience assembling mechanical components or working with machinery? What types of tools or equipment have you used?
  • Problem-Solving & Maintenance: Tell me about a time you identified a part that needed replacement or a machine that required maintenance. How did you handle the situation?
  • Physical & Safety Requirements: This role involves lifting up to 30 lbs and working around machinery and chemicals. Are you comfortable meeting these physical and safety requirements?
