Talascend is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Ladson, South Carolina.

Overview

This role involves performing work that requires skills of multiple maintenance or craft occupations to keep machines and mechanical equipment in repair, with a focus on diagnosing and resolving complex electrical and mechanical issues.

Responsibilities

  • Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools, then reassemble equipment
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure machines operate smoothly and building systems function efficiently
  • Inspect drives, motors, and belts; check fluid levels; replace filters; and perform other maintenance actions following checklists
  • Use a range of tools including hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and electrical testing devices
  • Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, and equipment
  • Inspect, operate, and test machinery to diagnose malfunctions
  • Record maintenance or repair work details and costs
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other machine parts
  • Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 5-7 years of experience required
  • Strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and the ability to work independently
  • Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving ability (required)
  • Team player and detail-oriented (required)
  • Basic knowledge of machines and tools, including design, use, repair, and maintenance (typically required)
  • Basic knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for manufacturing and distribution (typically required)
  • Basic knowledge of engineering science and technology applications (typically required)
