Talascend is currently seeking an Reliability Engineering Manager for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Calvert, Alabama.

Overview

The Reliability Engineering Manager will lead the reliability engineering team to achieve world-class availability, productivity, and quality. Collaborating with operations and maintenance teams, they will support the business goals of the client and ensure the effectiveness of maintenance and reliability practices in a heavy industrial environment.

Responsibilities

  • Share accountability with maintenance and operations leadership to ensure the company’s products and manufacturing processes are stable, reliable, and meet business goals
  • Direct management of reliability engineers: review and provide guidance with assigned team members
  • Ensure equipment reliability strategy is developed and aligned with business plans; oversee all elements of the asset reliability process
  • Establish and maintain asset criticality and standards
  • Develop and implement equipment maintenance programs to achieve targeted goals
  • Conduct manufacturing performance analysis and performance management
  • Provide reliability services to business units and act as a liaison for external reliability support, including asset prioritization, FMEA, RCA, and targeted improvement efforts
  • Facilitate and manage the root cause analysis process
  • Ensure technical adequacy of the equipment maintenance program, including preventative and predictive maintenance
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for equipment and process performance
  • Identify best-in-class reliability benchmarks, performance gaps, and develop plans to close these gaps
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the business plan
  • Communicate company policies and conduct performance reviews
  • Assign work equitably and promote a safe, healthy work environment
  • Ensure compliance with quality and environmental standards such as ISO 14001, IATF 16949, and ISO 17025

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, a technical degree, or a combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience supporting engineering and reliability in a steel mill or heavy industrial environment
  • Ability to lead and work with teams to achieve positive results
  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting operating and maintenance costs
  • Extensive experience with planning and scheduling
  • Proficiency with project and process documentation
  • Intermediate to proficient skills with Microsoft products, especially Excel and Project
  • Ability to lead processes such as root cause failure analysis, reliability-centered maintenance, maintenance task analysis, and predictive maintenance technology
  • Ability to execute all elements of quality control processes, including quality planning, quality control, and continuous improvement
  • Certified maintenance and reliability professional preferred
  • Reliability centered maintenance experience including equipment maintenance program development preferred
  • Knowledge of world-class manufacturing practices and program management preferred
  • Cold rolling process knowledge a plus
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Effective meeting facilitation, benchmarking, decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Conflict resolution, organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills
  • High work ethic and professionalism
  • Commitment to safety, teamwork, accountability, relationships, and sustainability

Preferred Qualifications

  • Reliability Centered Maintenance experience including equipment maintenance program development
  • World Class Manufacturing practices and program management knowledge
  • Carbon steel cold rolling process knowledge
