Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Talascend is currently seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Calvert, Alabama.
Overview
The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer will support a highly automated cold rolling mill by analyzing production disturbances, troubleshooting maintenance issues, and coordinating work orders to meet business goals.
Responsibilities
- Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock levels, anticipating needed items, and securing supplies.
- Assist in developing and implementing policies, standards, and procedures for mechanical and technical work.
- Prepare and present reports by analyzing data, trends, and findings.
- Schedule, plan, and execute short and long-term maintenance activities, ensuring effective preventive maintenance.
- Prepare and attend daily meetings and briefings related to maintenance and production activities.
- Review incoming job notifications and prioritize workflow accordingly.
- Provide data on costs, availability, and quality to support maintenance activities.
- Troubleshoot, adjust, and help maintain machinery and mechanical equipment.
- Observe safety protocols, review accident reports, and assist in investigations as needed.
- Coordinate, train, and lead maintenance technicians for various tasks and responsibilities.
- Support improvement programs and project groups focused on operational enhancements.
- Assist management in optimizing quality, cost, equipment availability, and performance.
- Coordinate personnel as needed based on management direction.

Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of heavy industrial experience with a degree or 7+ years without a degree.
- Knowledge of mechanical engineering practices and heavy industrial equipment maintenance.
- Technical knowledge of rotational equipment, hydraulic systems, lubrication systems, and piping.
- Experience using AutoCAD and proficient with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, SAP).
- Demonstrated knowledge of Reliability Centered Maintenance practices strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of predictive maintenance techniques and analysis preferred.
- Experience with carbon steel cold rolling preferred.
- Ability to interact with multiple stakeholders and work effectively in team environments.
- Willingness to work directly with technicians and contractors to ensure proper work practices.
- Strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to adopt innovative digital and technology applications in business processes.
- Builds partnerships and works collaboratively to meet shared objectives.
- Focus on continuous improvement and efficient processes.
