Mechanical Test Engineer
Talascend is currently seeking a Mechanical Test Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Torrance, California.
Overview
This role involves conducting mechanical testing and supporting project engineering activities in a hybrid work environment, with three days onsite and two days remote. The engineer will be responsible for designing test systems, analyzing results, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure testing standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical test systems for pneumatic, hydraulic, refrigeration, and heat exchanger components
- Perform and analyze tests on various systems and components to ensure compliance with specifications
- Coordinate with other engineering teams to define testing procedures and interpret results
- Identify functional problems and suggest effective resolutions
- Maintain quality control standards and reliability programs
- Generate regular progress reports on testing activities
- Lead and direct testing projects and potentially supervise team members
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 4 years of technical experience in designing mechanical and test facility systems
- At least 4 years of project engineering or project management experience
- Experience coordinating with engineering teams to define and execute tests
- Extensive knowledge of testing concepts, practices, and procedures
- Ability to utilize judgment and creativity to plan and accomplish testing goals
- Experience leading testing projects and supervising team members
