Talascend is currently seeking a Mechanical Test Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Torrance, California.

Overview

This role involves conducting mechanical testing and supporting project engineering activities in a hybrid work environment, with three days onsite and two days remote. The engineer will be responsible for designing test systems, analyzing results, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure testing standards are met.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical test systems for pneumatic, hydraulic, refrigeration, and heat exchanger components
  • Perform and analyze tests on various systems and components to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Coordinate with other engineering teams to define testing procedures and interpret results
  • Identify functional problems and suggest effective resolutions
  • Maintain quality control standards and reliability programs
  • Generate regular progress reports on testing activities
  • Lead and direct testing projects and potentially supervise team members

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 4 years of technical experience in designing mechanical and test facility systems
  • At least 4 years of project engineering or project management experience
  • Experience coordinating with engineering teams to define and execute tests
  • Extensive knowledge of testing concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Ability to utilize judgment and creativity to plan and accomplish testing goals
  • Experience leading testing projects and supervising team members
