Talascend is currently seeking an Industrial Hygiene Specialist for a contract opportunity with our client in Winnemucca, Nevada.
Overview
This role involves integrating industrial hygiene requirements into various phases of a large-scale project, providing technical guidance, conducting inspections, sampling, and monitoring to ensure health and safety standards are maintained on-site. The position requires a highly skilled professional with experience in industrial hygiene within construction or environmental settings.
Responsibilities
- Help integrate industrial hygiene requirements into project planning, design, construction, and operations.
- Interpret requirements and provide technical assistance regarding risk assessment, plan preparation, and ES&H program execution.
- Research issues and regulatory requirements, preparing documentation and reports.
- Provide technical guidance for industrial hygiene studies and risk assessments.
- Assist in developing and implementing routine industrial hygiene activities, including plans, procedures, methods, and training.
- Participate in emergency response and investigate health-related incidents.
- Identify stakeholders and resolve concerns related to industrial hygiene.
- Provide input to engineering, construction, commissioning, startup, and other project teams to ensure IH requirements are integrated into project workflows.
- Conduct inspections, sampling, and monitoring to evaluate ES&H performance and ensure compliance.
- Track ES&H performance trends, prepare reports, and maintain records in the IHRS system.
- Support ES&H team members across all disciplines as needed.
Qualifications
- Master of Science degree or equivalent in industrial hygiene or related scientific field (e.g., occupational safety and health, public health, chemistry, biology, applied science).
- 6+ years of relevant experience with a Master of Science degree, or bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Ability to research and understand organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, and proficiency in technical writing and data analysis.
- Understanding of ES&H management systems and environmental, safety, and health factors for program execution.
- Computer skills for report preparation, data management, and presentations.
- Analytical skills related to environmental sampling and monitoring.
- Ability to work outdoors in field environments under various weather conditions.
- Support for various work shifts, as needed.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Certified Industrial Hygiene (or equivalent) through a recognized accrediting organization, with sufficient courses and progressive work experience, including supervisory roles in industrial hygiene.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on large construction or energy projects.
