Talascend is currently seeking a Project Coordinator for a contract opportunity with our client in Chicago, Illinois.
Overview
The project coordinator will oversee a large-scale renovation project, ensuring the smooth integration and functionality of building automation systems, boilers, chillers, pumps, and piping within a multimillion-dollar facility. The role involves coordinating between various stakeholders and maintaining project timelines and standards.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with project management and engineering teams to oversee the renovation of a 10-floor building.
- Communicate effectively across all levels, reporting design and installation issues.
- Manage oversight activities for the ongoing GSA project, including the replacement of building automation systems and boiler system upgrades.
- Ensure installation and commissioning of boilers, chillers, pumps, and piping systems meet project specifications and safety standards.
- Coordinate project activities, troubleshooting, and problem solving related to mechanical, electrical, and piping systems.
- Verify that work progresses according to schedules, technical specifications, and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, facilities management, construction management, or related technical field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in facilities operations, technical project coordination, or systems integration within complex operational environments.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, including electrical infrastructure, HVAC, mechanical systems, and related integration.
- Experience coordinating with internal and external stakeholders such as contractors, vendors, engineering teams, and property management professionals.
- Proven ability to verify and validate the functionality and operational readiness of installed systems.
- Experience using facility management information systems (FMIS) or computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder engagement and reporting.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple activities with minimal disruption.
- Ability to pass government background checks and obtain necessary temporary clearances.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in data center, laboratory, healthcare, or other mission-critical facility environments.
- Experience developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation for complex building systems.
- Background in delivering technical training to facilities management teams.
- Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies for tracking deliverables and schedules.
- Experience managing vendor and contractor relationships, including scope verification and quality control.
- Knowledge of electrical systems design, power distribution, backup power systems, and critical infrastructure requirements.
