Talascend is currently seeking aLogistics Customs Analyst for a remote, contract opportunity with our client.

Overview

The Logistics Customs, Trade & Analytics Specialist supports customs and international trade compliance activities while providing logistics data analysis, reporting, and operational coordination across North America. The role involves ensuring the compliant, efficient, and cost-effective movement of goods and improving logistics data visibility and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Support the inquiry to order (ITO) organization by developing customs strategies, supporting tariff classification reviews, forecasting duties and tariffs, evaluating trade compliance risks, and developing customs-related logistics estimates during tendering.
  • Assist the order to remittance (OTR) organization by coordinating import/export activities, customs documentation, clearance, temporary import programs, export requirements, and resolving customs issues.
  • Develop, implement, and administer the ATA Carnet Program for international movements.
  • Maintain HTS classification records, country-of-origin information, customs valuation data, and import/export documentation requirements.
  • Assess tariff exposure and support mitigation strategies for trade regulations such as Section 232, Section 301, and AD/CVD cases.
  • Forecast customs duties, tariffs, taxes, and trade costs to improve project budgeting and forecasts.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through trade agreements and duty-optimization programs.
  • Ensure compliance with customs authorities and support customs audits, reviews, and record retention processes.
  • Provide customs and trade guidance and training to relevant teams.
  • Collect, validate, analyze, and report logistics data, develop dashboards and reports, and monitor KPIs related to logistics and customs performance.
  • Support logistics budgeting, forecasting, and project performance analysis.
  • Manage relationships and coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, transportation providers, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely customs clearance and compliance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate customs and reporting requirements into project plans and strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, International Business, Customs Administration, Business, Data Analytics, or related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in customs compliance, international trade, import/export operations, logistics analytics, or related areas.
  • Working knowledge of CBP, CBSA, USMCA, Incoterms 2020, customs valuation, tariff classification, and import/export regulations.
  • Experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and cross-functional project teams.
  • Demonstrated experience collecting, validating, analyzing, and reporting logistics or supply-chain data.
  • Experience creating operational trackers, KPIs, dashboards, and management reports.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas, and data analysis.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize activities, and follow through to resolution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed Customs Broker, Certified Customs Specialist, Certified Export Specialist, or similar certification.
  • Experience supporting industrial equipment, power generation, EPC, heavy-lift, oversized cargo, or project logistics.
  • Experience with SAP, Transportation Management Systems, Power BI, Smartsheet, SharePoint, or Box.
  • Experience with logistics cost analysis, freight budgeting, EAC forecasting, and carrier performance reporting.
  • Experience supporting U.S.–Canada and other international cross-border movements.
  • Knowledge of project logistics, freight forwarding, customs brokerage, transportation procurement, and shipment execution.

Shift

This is a remote position with working hours from 8am to 5pm, EST or CST (candidates in CST may need to sign in at 7am EST). Travel may be required for business meetings, with a possibility of 10% travel to Canada.
