Talascend is currently seeking an Logistics Coordinator for a remote, contract opportunity with our client.
Overview
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and managing transportation, distribution, and inventory control activities to ensure on-time delivery, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction. This role involves overseeing the movement of goods and materials, optimizing supply chain processes, and collaborating with internal teams and third-party logistics providers.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and schedule inbound and outbound shipments across various transportation modes, including freight, air, ocean, and ground transportation.
- Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and freight forwarders to arrange transportation, shipping, and delivery of raw materials, components, finished goods, and equipment.
- Monitor inventory levels, stock availability, and order fulfillment processes, and analyze demand forecasts, production schedules, and sales orders.
- Track shipment status, transit times, and delivery performance, communicating updates, delays, or issues to internal stakeholders, customers, and carriers.
- Maintain records, documentation, and databases of logistics activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and trade laws.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align logistics operations with business objectives and support production planning.
- Evaluate logistics service providers, negotiate contracts, rates, and SLAs, and establish performance metrics.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and supply chain optimization, implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field; additional certification in transportation, warehousing, or inventory management is a plus.
- Experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain operations, with a proven track record of coordinating complex activities and achieving performance targets.
- Proficiency in logistics software, TMS, and ERP systems, with the ability to analyze data and generate reports.
- Strong knowledge of international trade, customs regulations, import/export compliance, INCO terms, and cross-border shipment documentation.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to build relationships and influence stakeholders.
- Analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to develop practical solutions.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and quality in logistics planning, execution, and documentation.
- Results-oriented mindset with a sense of urgency, initiative, and accountability.
Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
