Talascend is currently seeking a 3D Inspection Specialist for a contract opportunity with our client in Greenville, South Carolina.
Overview
This role involves generating and maintaining Blue Light inspection programs using ZEISS INSPECT 3D software, providing analysis support to manufacturing engineering, and supporting operator training for new processes and continuous improvement initiatives. The specialist will also support shop-floor activities, develop workstation instructions, and contribute to process improvement projects related to 3D scanning and inspection.
Responsibilities
- Generate, maintain, and verify Blue Light inspection programs using ZEISS INSPECT 3D software.
- Provide 3D analysis support to manufacturing engineering and operator training for new processes, process changes, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Provide daily shop-floor support for 3D scanning, program execution, troubleshooting, and inspection data review.
- Develop and maintain workstation instructions, methods, and supporting documentation for 3D scanning processes.
- Support process improvement projects that enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance for 3D scanning processes.
- Clearly communicate with engineering, quality, operations, and inspection team members to resolve issues and prioritize tasks.
- Work effectively both independently and within a team-based, matrixed manufacturing environment.
- Adapt to a fast-paced production environment while supporting positive change and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, associate degree, or machinist apprenticeship graduate with at least 3 years of dimensional inspection experience; or high school diploma/GED with at least 6 years of dimensional inspection experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience using ZEISS INSPECT/GOM software for 3D inspection and analysis.
- Proficiency interpreting engineering drawings, model-based definitions, and GD&T requirements in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in programming and operating 3D scanning equipment in both manual and automated inspection environments.
- Experience with point-cloud processing, mesh generation, inspection alignment strategies, and scan data cleanup.
- Ability to analyze inspection results, generate reports, and communicate findings effectively.
- Familiarity with robotic integration or automated inspection cells for 3D scanning.
- Experience working with solid models in NX 1965, NX 2206, or NX 2412.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, or a related technical field.
- PC-DMIS CMM programming experience.
- Experience with VXelements, Geomagic Control X, Creaform, or similar inspection software.
- Scripting/programming skills in VBA, Python, or similar tools for automation in inspection workflows.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills, with above-average shop math skills in geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects concurrently while maintaining quality and schedule commitments.
- Experience with heavy-duty gas turbine or aerospace components.
- Willingness to provide occasional coverage or support for off-shift or swing-shift production needs.
