Talascend is currently seeking a Mechanical Assembler for a contract opportunity with our client in Sterling, Virginia.
Overview
This role involves performing electro-mechanical assembly operations on assemblies or sub-assemblies, following drawings, work instructions, and defined procedures. The position requires attention to quality and the ability to handle various assembly tasks in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Read drawings, work instructions, and defined procedures to assemble hardware subassemblies.
- Perform product inspection, basic test verification, and quality checks against requirements.
- Handle PCB assemblies, cable assemblies, harnesses, and commercial off-the-shelf components, if experienced.
- Record traceability, inspection, and test data accurately.
- Identify, document, and help resolve assembly defects and nonconformities.
- Determine and follow methods and sequence of operations for electro-mechanical assembly tasks.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with electronic assembly in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Ability to assemble hardware subassemblies using drawings, work instructions, and defined procedures.
- Ability to perform product inspection, basic test verification, and quality checks against requirements.
- Familiarity with controlled materials, including shelf-life verification requirements.
- Working knowledge of quality-focused manufacturing practices.
- Ability to record traceability, inspection, and test data accurately.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience handling PCB assemblies, cable assemblies, harnesses, and COTS components is preferred.
Shift
Standard work hours are 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day, starting between 6-8am with flexible scheduling. Overtime is not expected or required for this role.
